Students Celebrate Fairtrade Day

Year 7 students discovered more about life in Kolkota and met business guests from Co-op Energy during Fairtrade Day yesterday.  The students worked in teams to design new Fairtrade products and presented their ideas to the business guests.

They also got to step into the shoes of a family living in Kolkota by making paper spice bags and working out whether they could make enough money to buy food and pay rent.

A number of students said that they could really understand the challenges that some people had to face and, most importantly, that they could make a real difference to these people’s lives by supporting Fairtrade.
