Pupils will begin their GCSE controlled assessment tasks in Child Development during year 10. Pupils will cover a broad range of subject knowledge during this year including: Parenthood, Pregnancy, Diet and Health, Development of the Child and Family Support. Pupils must complete three short tasks based on a specific brief provided by the examination board.
Pupils will complete their Child Study Task during year 11 whereby they complete a research study based on the development of a chosen child. Alongside their coursework task, Pupils will study for their final examination at the end of year 11. On completion of this course students are able to process to higher education to study a range of subjects such as Nursing, Social work, Youth work or Teacher Training.
Child Development can lead to career opportunities in teaching, teaching assistant, nursery nursing, nursing, child psychology, social work.
