 Year 7

In year 7 pupils will mainly follow a Personal Social and Health Education programme with a small introduction into Citizenship, by learning about the British values.  They will be learning about how culturally diverse Britain is and what it means to be British.

 Year 8

In year 8 pupils will mainly follow a Personal Social and Health Education programme with one unit introducing pupils to Citizenship, in preparation for KS4 work in year 9.  They will be introduced to Citizenship through a comprehensive unit about the Law and how it affects us day to day, in particular how the law affects young people.

Year 9

In Year 9 pupils begin working towards their Edexcel GCSE in Citizenship course. The first year of the programme will cover theme A & B and with a small Citizenship Action programme. Throughout the year pupils will study a varied programme; for example Theme A pupils will be learning about how culturally diverse Britain is and what it means to be British. They will be studying topics such as, Diversity, Discrimination, Immigration and Britishness. During this year pupil will have one half term dedicated to Personal Social and health Education.

Spring 2 – Theme B – Democracy in the UK

Summer 1 -Theme B – Citizenship in action – Politics Project

Year 10

Year 11

In Year 11 pupils recap all of the five Citizenship themes and will undertake an extended project for Citizenship action in preparation for the exam at the end of the year. Throughout the year pupils will study a varied programme; for example Theme A pupils will be learning about how culturally diverse Britain is and what it means to be British. Throughout the year pupils will study topics such as, Diversity, Discrimination, Immigration, how laws are made, democracy in the UK and the Justice system.

The Year 9 students' ambition and lack of fear is to be commended and it is evident many of them have already focused on making money from their own ideas.
