Year 9: Focus on Industry Days, Mosaic Enterprise Challenge

Focus on Construction

A group of students who have indicated an interest in construction will participate on this day.

The Focus on Construction Industry Day will be led by colleagues from BAM and Mace and will take our students through a structured, practical and fun insight into the world of construction. Whether they are interested in a trade or professional career this day will give them the information they need to make an informed decision while developing the skills they will need in any career.

Focus on Customer Service

A group of students who have indicated an interest in customer service will participate on this day.

The Focus on Customer Service Industry Day gives our students the chance to visit our local ASDA and participate in staff training to become a mystery shopper. They observe and report on their experience with colleagues and see what makes good customer service. Under the guidance of LaSer UK, they are also challenged to think about a customer’s wants and will then come up with their own short play that highlights the differences between good and poor customer service with our thespians from Xoserve.

Focus on Logistics

A group of students who have indicated an interest in logistics will participate on this day.

The Focus on Logistics Industry Day takes our students on a tour of International Motors which highlights the level of organisation required to ensure that all of IM’s various products are secured from around the world and distributed to dealerships around the country. Our students are also introduced to the Tesco Distribution model and they participate in two fun and informative team challenges.

Focus on Food Technology

A group of students who have indicated an interest in food technology will participate on this day.

The Focus on Food Technology Industry Day will take our students on a trip to the NEC’s LG Arena where they will be introduced to the breadth of this Industry. From catering to front of house service, bar work to menu design. The day will be structured around three stations and various brief encounters including a cook-off, silver service training, cocktail making, experiencing and developing astronauts food and a biography zone where students will be able to learn from seasoned professionals varied experiences.

Focus on Travel & Tourism

group of students who have indicated an interest in travel & tourism will participate on this day.

The Focus on Travel & Tourism Industry Day will be led by colleagues from Coop Travel and will help our students to understand what goes into running a successful travel business. The students will be guided through three activities that will culminate in them marketing their dream holiday. Students will also have the opportunity to find out more about career paths and working in tourism from industry professionals.

Mosaic Enterprise Challenge

The Mosaic Enterprise Challenge is a national competition delivered to Years 7-10 students across the UK. The challenge gives our students opportunities to learn about business alongside professionals who mentor them through a two day course. If our teams are successful at a regional level, they will be asked to present a sustainable business concept to a panel of judges with the potential to go through to the national finals in London.

Our teams have previously excelled in this competition.
