We are incredibly proud of our academy and our community. We are proud of our happy students and staff, both of whom work together to achieve excellent results. As part of Tove learning Trust our academy benefits from being in a strong partnership with a number of other schools. We are also supported by a number of Ethos staff as part of the Trust. Grace Academy students thrive during their time here and visitors frequently comment on students’ excellent manners and behaviour. We expect and give the very best education to every child. The academy’s core set of values ensure every student develops into a confident, successful and happy young adult, ready to face the future.
Our recent Ofsted in April 2017 confirmed that we are a good school. Students behave well and make the most of the learning opportunities. Students feel safe and valued by all the staff. However much of what we offer is truly outstanding. Our GCSE results over the last few years show the progress that students make across a range of subjects. However, our staff know that academic achievement is only one part of success. At Grace we have so much going on including a wide range of trips, visitors, presentations and sporting and creative opportunities for all students.
You may have many questions about starting here at Grace from uniform to support available, the booklet below will try and answer as many of those as possible for you:
How do I apply and what do I need to do next?
If your child is due to transfer to a Secondary school in September 2021 you will receive some information from your Local Authority with details on how to apply for a school place, this is usually sent out in August and a copy usually goes to your child’s primary school at the beginning of September. The Information contained in the Parents Booklet tells you how to apply for a place for your child at secondary school. It also explains what happens if a Walsall school has more applications than there are places available. The admission criteria for every Walsall school are detailed in the school information pages within the booklet.
If you live in Walsall the on-line application must be completed by the 31st of October 2020. The link for this application is here – https://go.walsall.gov.uk/secondary_school_admissions. You can apply for schools in other local authorities.
If you live outside of Walsall you should apply through your local authority listing all of your preferred schools.
You can apply for up to five secondary schools, please ensure they are all listed on ONE online application. Please take the time to find out as much as you can about the relevant schools before you make your choices.
Up to the closing date of 31 October 2020 you may change your preferences if you wish to do so.
If your child has an older sibling already in attendance at your preferred school, you still need to apply, and you must submit an application for your preferred school by the closing date. Details of ‘siblings’ definitions can be found within the school’s admission arrangement on their website.
On-line applications cannot be made after the closing date, and late applications made after 31 October 2020, without good reason, will only be processed after all other applications have been finalised. Such applicants are less likely to be offered their preferred schools. If you have good reason for submitting your application after the closing date, please send a letter or email to the Admissions and Appeals Team explaining the reasons for the late return. Any letters received will be considered, but there is no guarantee that your application will be processed with those received before the deadline date.
Last year we had 410 preferences expressed and offers assessed on distance from the home address to the school were made to children living up to 1.064 miles from the school. IMPORTANT – Grace Academy Darlaston is not offering the bus service to September 2021’s intake as our bus is being phased out. No places on the bus have been offered to this year’s year seven or this year’s year eight.
The national offer date for secondary school admissions is 1 March 2021. Parents who submit an online application for a secondary school place and request an email notification will receive details of the outcome of their child’s application by email on Monday 1 March 2021. The emails will be produced and sent out by an automated process over the course of the day on Monday 1 March 2021.
Parents will also receive notification of the outcome of their application by a letter posted second class on Monday 1 March 2021.
If you would like to have a tour, please call reception and book one of our time slot. One of our team would love to show you around the building.
