Statistics

Overview:

GCSE Statistics gives students the opportunity to broaden their knowledge in a key component of maths that is relevant to everyday life. They’ll develop a core statistical grounding, as well as transferable skills and understanding that’s applicable to a range of other subjects including sciences and geography. Mathematical fluency is an important and valuable skill that will help in any career.

GCSE Statistics enriches and extends the statistics topics taught as part of GCSE Mathematics and topics taught are an integral part of A level Maths

Key Concepts in Statistical Analysis

Chapter 1: Collection of data

Chapter 2: Processing & representing data

Chapter 3: Summarising data

Chapter 5: Time series

Chapter 6: Probability

Assessment throughout the year:

End of chapter assessment for each chapter

End of year summative assessment

Year 11

Summary of curriculum:

Analysing associations, economic change, and statistical distributions

Main Topics:

Chapter 4: Scatter graphs & correlation

Chapter 7: Index numbers

Chapter 8: Probability distributions

Assessment throughout the year:

End of chapter assessment for each chapter

Final exam:

· Unit 1: examination lasting 1 hour and 30 minutes. Worth 50% of final grade.
· Unit 2: examination lasting 1 hour and 30 minutes. Worth 50% of final grade.
