Grace Academy Darlaston Sixth Form Admissions Policy Introduction
Grace Academy Darlaston welcomes applications to its Sixth Form from both existing students and external applicants.
We are committed to providing a high-quality post-16 education through personalised study programmes that support students in progressing to higher education, apprenticeships, employment, or further training. Our Sixth Form study programmes are designed in line with the requirements of the Department for Education's 16-19 Study Programme guidance and are tailored to students' prior achievement, interests and future career aspirations.
Who Can Apply?
Applications are welcomed from: • Current Grace Academy Darlaston Year 11 students
• Students from other schools and academies.
• Young people aged 16-19 at the start of their programme.
• Students with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), where appropriate provision can be made.
Entry Requirements
Entry requirements vary according to the course or pathway chosen. Typically, students will be expected to:
• Achieve at least five GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including any subject-specific requirements.
• Meet the individual entry requirements published for each course.
• Attend an admissions interview or guidance meeting if requested.
The Academy reserves the right to review applications on an individual basis where exceptional circumstances apply.
Study Programmes
All students will be enrolled on a personalised study programme with a clear academic or vocational focus (known as a "core aim") as required by government guidance. Study programmes may include:
• A Levels, vocational or technical qualifications.
• English and/or Mathematics where students have not yet achieved a Grade 4 GCSE.
• Personal development and tutorial programmes.
• Careers education, information, advice and guidance.
• Work experience, employer engagement and employability activities.
• Enrichment opportunities that support personal growth and preparation for adult life.
Application Process
1. Complete the Sixth Form application form.
2. Attend any interview or guidance meeting as requested.
3. Receive a conditional or unconditional offer.
4. Enrol following GCSE results day.
Places are confirmed when applicants successfully meet the entry requirements for their chosen courses and complete the enrolment process.
Oversubscription
If applications exceed the number of available places, priority will be given to:
1. Students with an EHCP naming Grace Academy Darlaston.
2. Looked-after and previously looked-after children
3. Applicants who meet the published entry requirements
4. Applicants whose chosen programme can be accommodated within available resources.
The Academy may operate waiting lists where necessary.
